Health One Global at the Athens Test Games
Health One Global, in its role as the exclusive Special Olympics Healthy Athletes Global Partner for electronic health records, recently completed another landmark Healthy Athletes event with Special Olympics.
Almost 1,000 athletes from Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Finland, Germany, Great Britain, Greece, Kazakhstan, Korea, Luxembourg, Macau, Norway, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and the USA attended the Special Olympics Athens Test Games from 31st May to 2nd June 2010 in Athens.  1,368 Healthy Athletes screenings were carried out on 470 athletes from around the world and entered into the Healthy Athletes Software (HAS) that Health One Global has supplied to Special Olympics as a charitable contribution since 2003.
The purpose of the Test Games was to act as the dress rehearsal for the Special Olympics World Summer Games to be held in Athens in July 2011 when some 7,500 athletes from 185 countries around the world will converge on Athens for the biggest sporting event in the world in 2011 http://www.athens2011.org/en/index.asp
At the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Shanghai in 2007 18,500 Healthy Athletes screenings were carried out by Special Olympics on 4,879 athletes in only 8 days and entered into HAS.  Carrying out 18,500 screenings in 8 days was probably a world record.  Doing so on athletes from 155 countries certainly was!!  We hope to beat that record at the Special Olympics World Summer Games in Athens in 2011 – watch this space!!
